Vintage Flett Finds

My mom and I escaped yesterday for a  few hours to our favorite junking spots and came home with a car full of funky finds!!! (NOT UNUSUAL for us professional junkers:)

Here is a little collection of things I found yesterday. A vintage striped kelly green dress....I just love the shape of this piece. It will need a little work for me to actual wear it but it will be worth it I think---maybe I will wear it over jeans with my frye boots?..I may cut it off a little more--might be way too long? Then I found some cool scarves---my passion. I can't seem to get enough of these little gems...the color palettes are always amazing and great for pulling odd things together for new projects that you wouldn't expect. Plus, I love to wear them---every which way--- And then I was so happy to find a 1937 wallpaper catalog from SEARS! Love love!!! I have been eyeing some of these for months on EBAY and I have never come across one here in Maine yet. Very cool. One thing I love about living here is that everything is so old. I can find the most amazing things in ordinary places because people here seem to keep things around for generations and of course New England is such a old place--not like Europe old but old enough to have a good amount of history---the wallpapers here are extraordinary and bottles---amazing...just don't get that in the midwest...(Colorado) where I am from.

Anyway, I hope to be working on FALL pillows soon--and these little finds will do the trick getting me started! Enjoy.

Orla Kiely Spring Summer Launch! Very Amazing!

I wanted to share my absolute favorites from Orla this Spring Summer! Her prints are so vintage yet so fresh! Very inspirational and beautiful, quirky and fun!

INSPIRATION: The traditional British seaside holiday comes to life in Orla Kiely’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection. Inspired by Cornish boat scenes and Patrick Heron paintings, the result is seaside symbols in beautiful fabrics, soft shapes and colors. Emeralds and pebble greys are contrasted by rose and fuchsia pinks. Orla Kiely’s floral prints, a favorite, are updated in the Beach Flora and the Water Flower motifs. Enjoy.

Erin Flett-Pillows

Hello! I put together all the little silos of the pillows..nice to see them all like this. Missing Aria Floral---need to print that one again but here is all the others...Working on a few large orders that just came in and I am so so thankful! If I can just keep going and selling a few here and there I would be thrilled. Something about doing your own work on something others are going to love and enjoy is so modivating and really inspires me. I love paper as you all know, love graphic design, but when you put it on something people will see and feel longer then a life of a brochure---it somehow makes the design more special...because it just lasts longer...sigh...just love designing, printing, being inspired...all of it--- life is good. e

New Erin Flett Pillow Photo Shoot!

Holly Becker recently did a write up in REAL SIMPLE as well as her own blogger site decor8 » Blog Archive » Erin Flett Textiles on my new pillows! So fun and exciting! She has amazing style and a great eye and I am so so impressed with her blog! THANK YOU HOLLY!!!! Please check out the link above and see all the amazing photos and posts!

Above are recent shots Cliff Kucine and I shot Tuesday. It was so exhausting...but fun! We were cleaning up the shoot and the girls came in and Ary my two year picked the 10" little BUNNY BOO pillow and said..."mine Bunnie" I loved it! She carried it around the house and played with her babies (propping her babies head up on the pillow as she fed her with a toy bottle and said.."nite nite"...seriously need to shoot her with them....I fell in love with her all over again as she played. So so cute! Even gave one to the dog "Canyan" and said "lay down"...that was not so good...but Breshia my five year old was also excited to see them off the computer and "real"..."Mommie, just want them all for my bed K?" No problem I said. The only feedback was, "I think we need a kitty and maybe a dog too?" Okay I am on it I told her...so we'll see.

Thanks for looking. And a huge thank you to Paul at State of Mind Printing who puts up with me and my neurotic arty self! (I think that is too dark, too light, ink too heavy, okay move over I want to do it:) I will be doing a web site for him in exchange for his amazing services. I will post when done and approved! And also a thank you to Jana Pike, Creative Home Sewing Shop here in Gorham for helping perfect these babies. I never thought pillows would be so technical and challenging! But I am so anal I am sure I am slowly driving her insane!!!

Talk soon,
e

Thoughts and New Work

Excited that finally the holidays are behind us and feel a surge of energy to keep moving on printing the last few pillows before my big photo shoot. Just printed Stacked Deco in Rainy Day Gray and Mango Orange. Check them out...`

A great detail shot of the bark cloth fabric above. LOVE this fabric..sucks up ink like crazy and hard to print really...but worth the process. I have been working on getting the ink as water downed as possible without turning to soup so the graphics are soft when dry not plastic or hard...

Here is an image of one of 10 mid century chairs I found on craigslist a few weeks back with the two new pillows. A super amazing find. They came out of the oldest hotel in Willards Beach here in Maine. I was told that it was once the place to be and visit back in the 40's and 50's. The chairs were used outside I guess. I wish I had the tables too! I purchased an olive, tan, this aqua and 6 orange...which now live around my farm table that I have since painted a pea green.

I also printed Mr. Nut large and small and think they turned out so fun! In coffee and pea soup. They should be ready to shoot next week to post! VERY EXCITED ABOUT THIS ONE! I will be printing Bunny Boo among some others so stay tooned!

Kiddos are wanting to go paint so off I go. Love snowy lazy days...actually slept in...imagine that! The soft snow falling was amazing to watch as I woke up as my two little ones were snuggled up with me...(they both snuck in late last night).

Erin Flett on Posh Puzzles

A few weeks ago, Julie Barnes, the Senior Art Director with Andrews McMeel Publishing in Kansas City asked if I would send over some new surface designs for a high-end puzzle book line targeted toward women called Posh Puzzles. You can view most of them at: http://www.andrewsmcmeel.com/puzzles-games.html Each have an element of "bling" on them- either a foil stamp, embossing, flocking, etc.

I wanted to share the pattern that they just selected! It's still in need of a little refining but here it is in it's comp form! Very excited!

Thanks Julie for finding me!
